It’s a bit disappointing to me honestly. I was one of those guys who really honestly thought they would announce Diablo 3 this year, oh how I was wrong.
I guess I should’ve expected that they’d keep on trying to feed their monstrous beast, WoW, what with some competition heading their way soon. Honestly though Wrath of the Lich King looks pretty weak. There wasn’t even an exciting CG movie for its announcement, it was just some stagnant in-game “Story-telling”.
They’ve only announced one Hero Class and it sounds like it’ll be the only Hero Class to be added for this one. They have the typical selling points, new levels, new skills, new areas, new dungeons, new gear. Basically what they mean to tell you is new shit to grind for. That’s a boner inducing thing for some, but not for me.
One thing that put me off a little was the fact that they had “New options for character customizations” as one of the headlines, meaning changeable hairstyles and new dances. That’s cool and all and I’m glad they’re catering to the casuals/RPers, but it’s a little weak of them to have to list that as one of the selling points of it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a faction grind to “Learn” the new emotes.

After talking to Alex for a bit, i have to agree that it’s pretty weak compared to, say BC. However, i love the look of Northrend. I really do, no question about it. And i most likely will get it for the simple fact that i’ll be raiding alot soon
..Either way, i’m also sad that they didn’t announce D3. D2 is, by far, my all time favorite game now. It had everything i wanted and still want. Well, maybe a bit better graphics and such :P. But you get my idea. I really do hope that they are working on it though.
However, i’m not so sure if it’s going to be as good as D2 was… Recently, some of the weird stories (Maybe Rumors) during WoW Beta came to my attention. It’s alot of stuff, so i’ll keep it short and simple. Pretty much, during Beta, WoW was completely different compared to now (Big deal eh? But wait). During Beta, developers from D2 were working on it, but they later got canned, or left, not sure and were replaced with some EQ Hardcore guildies. Mind you, it didn’t change too much about the fact that it’s a fun game or anything, but the story, to be honest, suffered dramatically. The story in D2 was absolutely great. Loved every aspect of it. I still don’t know what exactly all it is that makes it such a great game…
Anyway, back to the subject. I hope that Blizz is, firstly, holding back information on some of the stuff coming with the new WoW expansion (There HAS to be more crap… srsly) and that they are silently working on D3. Please please please please!
It’s funny, because i got a PC Games magazine here (very good German PC Games magazine) and they were talking about SCII and such. Then there was a Pie chart asking which game people would like to see the most in the near future. Guess what won? Right, D3 by a very good margin (I believe almost half of the votes were D3) whereas maybe 5-10% were for another WoW expansion. I think Blizz has to get off the high MMO horse and start working on games for semi normal gamers :P

I really think they just wanted to rush something out to compete with Warhammer :P
But like I was saying to Alex last night, you remember how awesome and how much stuff was actually added to LoD? It was a SHIT-ton of stuff. That’s what I want WoW expansions to be like, not once-a-year content patches that they keep draining money out of you with.

Yeah, I agree with you, Alec. I’m pretty apathetic about this new WoW expansion. Hell, I was pretty disappointed with Burning Crusade. I’m pretty much done with WoW, or as my friend affectionately calls it, ‘Waiting on Warhammer’, which I certainly agree with. The only thing that’s going to get my money is the only game badass enough to contain the Rowdy Boyz.
