He’s practicing, and so am I.

A few days ago I decided that I liked digital painting a lot and wanted to get into it. Earlier today I remembered that Steff had a Wacom Tablet so I asked her about it. She pretty much just straight up gave it to me so I was pretty excited.

So pretty much, I’ve just been working on and off, getting used to using a tablet, and trying my hand out at drawing and painting.

I realized I sucked. I first started to draw a figure, and the wireframe came out pretty decent, but when it came time to block it I only had the most rudimentary of shapes before I realized I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. It was very apparent I had never taken a drawing or painting class before.

Well after a few hours of tinkering, I have a WIP to sort of show. Maybe I can get some pointers before I go back and tackle it again.

(You can see I tried to cover up my inept painting with some splatter brushes :D )

damn, dude. For never having taken a painting or drawing class I’d say you certainly have a grasp on it. Looks like you really understand the way lighting falls on the subject which, really, is like 85% of being able to render something correctly.

As far as pointers go, I’d say just keep at it. It’s working really well. I can tell you this, even after 2 painting classes, I bet that’s better than I could do. Seriously, don’t stop.
